At Ganesha Hot Yoga St. Pete, our specialty is Bikram yoga. We offer unparalleled and experienced instruction in all levels of hot yoga. Our specialty is BIKRAM YOGA, which is the “original” hot yoga. This class is best known for it’s weight loss benefits and is designed for BEGINNERS – it is a 26 posture system to restore and revitalize the body no matter what your level of fitness. We also offer POWER YIN for additional therapeutic benefits including penetrating the deep connective tissues and fascia surrounding the joints, as well as POWER CORE to target the abs, lower spine, hips, shoulders and thighs.
Why the heat?
The room is heated to about 95-105 to facilitate deeper stretching, relieve stress and tension, prevent injury and help detoxify the body. The heat makes muscles more elastic and less susceptible to injury. The heat also provides an optimal experience for practicing yoga because it allows you to work deeper into the body in a safer way. Don’t worry! You will get used to the heat! Our prescribed method of instruction along with the controlled heat and humidity allows for the bodies systems to begin working harmoniously, leaving you feeling reenergized, rejuvenated, revitalized and better than you’ve ever felt in your life!

Why Bikram Yoga?
What separates a BIKRAM YOGA class from another type of hot yoga class? Bikram Yoga is the “original” hot yoga – the one that started the hot yoga craze. The class is designed for beginners but it is perfect for beginners and advanced students alike. Well known for it’s weight loss benefits, Bikram Yoga is a specific sequence of 26 hatha yoga postures including 2 breathing exercises. In our POWER YIN classes, not only will you get an amazing Power Yoga workout, but you also get the combined benefit of Yin practice as well. Each class is 75 minutes with approx. 50 minutes of Power yoga and 20 minutes of Yin yoga. The classes are all varied and incorporate power-vinyasa-flow style postures, sun salutations and more. What is Yin? Yin is a method of yoga where certain postures are held for approximately 2 minutes each, to penetrate the deep connective tissues and fascia surrounding the joints.
In our POWER FLOW classes, you will target the troubling areas of the abs, lower back, hips, shoulders and thighs. Each class is 75 minutes of fat burning, cardio, power-vinyasa-flow postures that will help you strengthen your core, improve your flexibility and feel amazing! Read more…

What should I bring to class?
A yoga mat, a large towel and water are required for each class. An extra towel is suggested to dry off with or shower with after class. Our facility is equipped with private, comfortable change rooms and showers. Mat and towel rentals are available and water may be purchased at the studio.
What should I wear?
You should wear comfortable workout clothing but remember you will be sweating quite a bit. Shorts, capri pants, tank-tops or sports bras for women; men can wear exercise shorts or swim trunks with an optional T-shirt. Avoid loose fitting clothing or baggy and long pants/sweat pants.
